What Are Your Hobbies/Interests?

Socialising with friends, reading, movies and travelling.

Qualifications/Work Experience

I've been a qualified hairdresser for 29 years and owned 3 businesses in that time. Now I'm loving my career and work at Hairy Canary, and looking forward to the future. I still love to keep abreast of new trends and fashions and regularly attend workshops at Schwarzkopf colouring academy and Toni and Guy cutting academy in London.

What 5 words represent you?

Ambitious, health conscious, perfectionist, sensitive, good listener and reliable.

What is your best hairdressing moment?

When I realised I didn't have to work for a big salon group to be recognised and successful. I was realising my own goals and expressing my own creativity.

What/Who are your inspirations?

Trevor Sorbie has always been my icon. He is a magician with hair and is strong in all aspects of hairdressing. I'm always blown away with his creativity and mastery.

What do you think are current looks and trends for current season?

For haircuts - soft undercuts to remove weight from big hair. Whether its curly or straight long or short it gives a great different look. Also textured asymetric cuts that can be worn long or short can be quirky and fun to change around. Fringes are still big, sweeping hair across the face can be great for clients with long hair.

As for colour - its bleach blonde on short hair with different tones of strawberry, ice and caramel. Highlighted hair with subtle colours to enhance natural tones and skin tone. Also Coppers, Reds and Auburns still look great. techniques in foils are weaved highlights rather than thick slices.

Of course we still provide shiny healthy looking hair!

What is the biggest buzz you've had as a hairdresser?

My biggest buzz is always seeing people happy with my work, and constantly being involved in a creative, challenging and inspiring industry.

What are your hobbies / interests?

In my spare time away from hairdressing my main interests are eating out, meeting friends and spending time with my family.

Qualifications / work experience

I started my hairdressing career 6 years ago in a small village salon working there 4 days a week and attending Cambridge Regional College on the 5th day. After 5 years there I decided I needed to learn new, more up to date hair styling so I moved to a salon in the city centre where I stayed for one year. At this salon I worked hard to better my skills through attending the Goldwell and L’oreal academies. I also completed a barbering diploma and latest season cutting edge cuts but my main focus and qualifications lay with the colouring side of hairdressing. From current foiling techniques to how to photograph and create a look.

What 5 words represent you

Dedicated, ambitious, quiet, clever, quirky.

What / who are your inspirations?

I attended a Patrick Cameron long hair demonstration for bridal looks which I felt inspired by. Vidal Sassoon's work ethic, reluctance to compromise with what he believes, his passion for his job and the way he has been able to change living standards around the world through people attending his academies is also really inspiring to me.

What do you think are current looks and trends for current season?

Looking at cuts, I've found this season they are very disconnected low maintanence looks and quite edgy. The colouring workshops I last attended showed a lot of the colouring looks were inspired by nature I.e. Flowers/butterflies

What is the biggest buzz you've had in hairdressing?

My biggest buzz happens whenever I'm able to completely alter someones look with a colour cut and blowdry.
